Chiropractic and Pregnancy go well together
Pregnancy is a very special time in any woman’s life, however it’s also very stressful and often painful. I’ve had the pleasure and honor of helping quite a few pregnant patients including one of our own receptionists. While they had their similarities, all were also uniquely different in terms of what they went through, how much pain they experienced and how easy or difficult their baby’s birth happened to be. I’m glad to say that the vast majority of the women we’ve seen through their pregnancy experienced a more pleasant pregnancy and easier birth.
Pregnancy Problems that Chiropractic Care can Relieve
Pregnancy causes many drastic changes to a woman’s body. One of the first is changes in female hormones that occur almost instantaneously is conception, which can cause nausea and ‘morning sickness’. Weight gain starts to occur as the pregnancy moves forward which places new stress on the spine, hips, and pelvis. Rapid weight gain during pregnancy can also cause pain in other areas of the body due to uncomfortable and awkward sleeping positions.
Chiropractic can also be of great help with other aspects or problems that come with being pregnant, including breech births, preventing possible cesarean delivery and also reducing the time it takes for delivery.

Your chances of experiencing a healthier pregnancy, birth, and a healthier baby are much greater with a healthy spine.
Recommendations for Chiropractic During Pregnancy
Whether you’re in pain or not, I recommend at least one chiropractic adjustment a week throughout your pregnancy to remove any misalignments (aka subluxations) and keep your nervous system in optimal working condition. If you’re in pain we recommend at least two visits per week, especially as the delivery date gets closer.
The fact is, chiropractic care is one of the best things you can do for your baby and can help both you and your baby in many different ways. Do yourself and your bundle of joy a favor and take care of your spine with chiropractic care before, during, and after your pregnancy.
